Is Infertility Stopping You?

Here are some important facts about infertility:

  • Infertility affects 1 in 6 couples seeking a pregnancy.

  • Approximately 6 million women face infertility in the United States

  • A 2002 survey reported that 7.4% of married women in the United States were infertile, with the highest rates among African American women.

  • African American women have a significantly longer duration of infertility than Caucasian women.

  • There are a number of medical causes of infertility, almost evenly distributed between men and women. It is important that both discuss with their medical providers.

  • In 2008 the CDC reported that approximately 4 million men sought infertility information or evaluation in their lifetimes. (pp.2466-2470)
